-PORTRAITS-
When
selecting a photographer to have a portrait taken, it's important to
have the end result in mind for where that photo is going to be placed.
The colours worn, the size and type of image all play an integral role
in the final enjoyment of your photos.
Paris
encourages his clients to bring several outfit changes so that the end
result is a variety of imagery that serves multiple uses.
Additionally, unless the client specifies otherwise, Paris will take
the photos with different lenses, diffusers and speed settings to
create a range of imagery.
Here are
some examples:
The client wanted a winter photo
shoot of mother and son that captured the bond between them. They also
wanted the shoot to feel dreamlike and soft. The uses for the photos
were discussed in advance, and the one hour shoot netted 185 photos.
Here is a sampling from the shoot:

The client wanted some striking black and white
photos that felt timeless. This is one of many. |
|
The client wanted to print one large 'dreamy' portrait on canvas
to go over the fireplace mantle in their home. The colours in
that room are blue, so the clothes were selected to coordinate.
|
|
The client also wanted some in-focus colour photos suitable for
small frames as gifts for the grandparents. This was the
selected image. |
|
The client wanted a photo to be used for the family winter card.
This was the image selected. |
|
This image was designed to be framed for a
narrow wall in the client home. |
As you can
see, Paris varied his technique for the client who had multiple plans
for these images.
In another
example, this client wanted a portfolio for acting purposes. In one
hour she changed outfits seven times, for a shoot that netted over 150
photos and create a varied portfolio for her to send out.

The client wanted some photos that made her seem to be the 'girl
next door.' |
Equally, the client wanted some 'bad girl' photos to demonstrate
acting breadth. |
|
The client wanted 'romantic' images that felt sultry without
being trite. She was thrilled with the result. |
|
The client felt confident in this dress and wanted several
'true' to her personality images. |
The client wanted some images that reflected her playful nature. |
|
A
variety of texture was important to the client, as was studio
lighting and natural lighting images. |
